As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of ERP system activity. You will also provide support to branch personnel, helping them navigate daily ERP transactions. Your strong analytical skills and thorough understanding of accounting principles will be essential in maintaining accurate financial reporting and supporting various accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed work, including maintenance, journal entries, and account balance reviews.
- Provide technical support and advice on ERP systems to branch teams.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions.
- Process approved credit memos and job cost transfers.
- Monitor and respond to inquiries from corporate email inboxes.
- Review and recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures.
- Identify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist other department members with audit requests and special projects.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or project management industry.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
- Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software, preferably SAGE 300 or similar systems like SAP, JD Edwards, or NetSuite.
- Knowledge of SAGE Fixed Assets is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
