We are seeking an experienced Direct Mail Production Manager to lead and oversee our Mailing Department. This role is critical to ensuring the timely, efficient, and high-quality production of direct mail projects while fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex mailing workflows, a keen understanding of USPS regulations, and proven leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and train the Mailing Department team to achieve quality and efficiency.
- Hire and develop qualified team members to support department goals.
- Conduct daily meetings with key staff to review objectives and progress.
Production Management:
- Forecast mail sales pipeline in collaboration with Scheduling and Sales leadership.
- Schedule and manage complex mail projects, ensuring timely completion.
- Identify and implement secure workflows to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Set benchmarks, track department KPIs, and perform root cause analysis for non-conformance and spoilage.
Strategic Participation:
- Engage in strategic discussions to drive product growth and improve customer acquisition.
- Advise leadership on industry technology advancements and best practices.
- Collaborate with sales and estimators to develop efficient and automated workflows for new projects.
Operational Excellence:
- Maintain and communicate production schedules and material needs.
- Ensure adherence to USPS rules and regulations.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and monitor inventory levels, creating purchase requisitions as needed.
- Operate machinery when required and ensure the production floor is clean and organized.
Documentation & Training:
- Develop and maintain department procedures and training documents.
- Train employees, sales teams, and project managers on processes and USPS updates.
- Partner with the Post Office to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in a managerial role with direct reports in a similar field.
- In-depth knowledge of mailing equipment and its capabilities (experience with Screen equipment is a plus).
- Advanced software application skills (experience with PACE preferred).
- High school diploma or GED required.
