Overview
We are searching for an experienced and dedicated Travel PCU/Stepdown RN to join our dynamic team for travel assignments across the U.S. This role provides a unique chance to gain valuable experience in different healthcare settings and make a meaningful impact on patient care.
Position Details:
- Primary Location: Lima, OH (other locations available)
- Additional Regions: Assignments available in Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, and Nebraska
- Shift: 12-hour nights, floating as needed
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Unit: Stepdown RN - 4K - Stepdown float to ICU or MS/Tele as needed
Patient Population and Unit Specifics:
- Patient Types: Stepdown float to ICU or MS/Tele as needed. Could be assigned low acuity ICU patients, examples may include low dose vasopressor, stable vent with ET Tube and sedation, 3% saline, NIH post thrombectomy or TNK, etc. The ICU team will be available for questions and support as well.
- Preferred: Experience with Pre/Post Cath Lab patients and Pre/Post CABG.
- Lines/Drains/Devices: Central lines, medi ports, PICC’s, midlines, foley’s, nephrostomy tubes, pleurix catheters, chest tubes, NG tubes, PEG tubes, J tubes, flexiseal.
- Airway Management: Trachs/vents, BiPAP, CPAP, Heated High Flow, Trachs, Nasal Cannula
- Medications & Equipment: Amio, Cardizem, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine, Cardene, Lasix, Bumex, Narcan, Milrinone, mainly fixed rate drips. If needing titration, transferred to ICU.
- Uniform: Navy blue scrubs
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-year experience in PCU (travel experience not required)
- Active RN license in Virginia or compact state coverage
- BLS and ACLS, NIHSS certifications
- Preferred: CCRN, PCCN, 6 months acute care experience, EPIC EHR familiarity, Critical Care Course
- Must have exp working with ICU level patients as needed
- Must have exp with vents/trachs
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, provide, and direct patient care and education
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and implement and evaluate treatment plans
- Administer medications safely, consistent with facility policies
- Serve as point of contact for patient care coordination within hospital departments and family/caregivers
- Manage patients with multi-system organ failure and trauma
- Utilize the AACN Synergy Model to maintain stability across physiological, psychological, and psychosocial aspects
