Precision Staffing is seeking a Materials Lab Technician for a leading automotive manufacturer in Florence, KY. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical background and a passion for quality control and materials testing to join a fast-paced, innovative team.
Responsibilities for Materials Lab Technician:
- Perform laboratory tests on automotive parts and materials for quality control, product development, and customer returns
- Conduct a variety of tests including dimensional, performance, fatigue, corrosion, and microstructure analysis
- Prepare, mount, and operate experimental models on test devices according to procedures
- Accurately record and report all test results and note any deviations from specifications
- Analyze failed samples and assist engineers in determining root causes
- Maintain cleanliness and calibration of lab equipment
- Collaborate with engineering teams on new and complex testing projects
- Perform other tasks as required by management
Requirements for Materials Lab Technician:
- Associate degree in a technical field
- 2+ years of experience in an automotive lab or similar environment
- Familiarity with testing methods, materials, and coatings used in automotive parts
- Strong communication skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
Preferred Knowledge or Experience (Training can be provided):
- Tensile strength testing
- Hardness testing
- Use of microscopes and stereoscopes
- Sample preparation tools: cutters, molding, grinding, and polishing machines
