Duties
- Operate CNC machinery such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily using Fanuc controls, to manufacture complex parts with precision.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate production.
- Program CNC machines utilizing CAM programming software; modify existing programs as needed for efficiency or design changes.
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and machining parameters to optimize machine performance and part quality.
- Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment; troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling wear, or machine malfunctions.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste.
- Assist with assembly processes when required, ensuring parts meet quality standards before final inspection.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment adhering to safety protocols; operate hand tools and power tools safely.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype development or tooling modifications.
Skills
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC lathes and milling machines with Fanuc controls.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages and CAM software for efficient machine setup.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and applying GD&T principles accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and welding.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for complex part fabrication.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
- Knowledge of tooling selection, setup procedures, and maintenance practices.
- Experience working in lean manufacturing environments focused on continuous improvement.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; familiarity with assembly processes; adept at using hand tools and power tools. This position offers an engaging environment where craftsmanship meets innovation. We welcome candidates who are committed to precision engineering and eager to contribute their skills toward achieving manufacturing excellence.
