Position Details:
- Primary Location: Midlothian, VA (other locations available)
- Additional Regions: Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, and Nebraska
- Shift: 12-hour nights, floating as needed
- Schedule: Every other weekend and major holidays required
- Unit: ICU Overflow Unit, 24 Bed Unit, 4D and 4B
Patient Population and Unit Specifics:
- Patient Types:High Acuity, Neuro, Cardiac, postsurgical. Must be willing to work with PCU, MS/Tele or ICU patients as needed. Overflow can flex up to 36 beds.
- Alaris pumps, Vents, CPAP BiPap, pressors bonus items: IABP, EVD, ICP, TVP, CRRT, impella, SWAN, ECMO

Provider coverage: Intensivist resident and hospitalist team of two mid-levels and two residents on nights. Rapid response team, a resource RN and house supervisor on 24/7.

Scheduling: The first schedule is added to the end of the schedule period based on need, but we take preferences in to account and meet them the best that we can; block schedule, 3 in row, not three in a row etc. Then, they can self-schedule at the next opening.
- Uniform: Navy blue scrubs
*All listed ratios are subject to change based on staffing availability at the facility. Ratios are never guaranteed but are what the unit typically attempts to achieve with normalized staffing.
Travel ICU Nurse Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required (travel experience not required)
- Active RN license in the assigned state or compact state coverage

Must have ACLS, BLS & NIHSS

Preferred qualifications: CCRN certification, NIHSS certification, experience with EPIC EHR, and prior experience managing trauma or multi-system organ failure cases

- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for complex cases
- Safely administer medications, treatments, and procedures in compliance with hospital policies

- Proactively monitor and address changes in patient conditions, adapting care plans to stabilize patients as needed
- Maintain meticulous documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems to support continuity of care
