About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Housing Property Eligibility Specialist to interview, verify, and determine the eligibility of residents for public housing programs. This role ensures accurate documentation, manages waiting lists, computes rents, and supports staff with training and hard-to-lease units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview applicants and verify eligibility (income, family composition, background checks).
- Maintain accurate client files and agency-wide waiting lists.
- Input data accurately into On-base or similar software.
- Compute rents and explain determinations to applicants.
- Prepare for and represent the agency in eligibility hearings when needed.
- Assist with annual waiting list purges and site staff training.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; college coursework in Business, Social Work, or related fields preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in social work, public contact, or related field.
- Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working with numbers and advanced math concepts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Groupwise.
- Must obtain Housing Specialist Certification within 1 year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework.
