We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Industrial Mechanic. Under the supervision of the department manager and our experienced Master Mechanics, you will play a critical role in setting up machines to work with extremely close tolerances. This position requires a willingness to learn quickly and the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will have advanced mechanical skills and a strong desire to continuously improve their knowledge and expertise.
Available Shifts: Monday - Thursday, 6:00AM - 4:00PM or Monday - Thursday, 4:00PM - 2:00AM
Primary Responsibilities for Apprentice Industrial Mechanic:
- Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, mechanical drawings, and machine manuals.
- Gain on-the-job experience by working with experienced Master Mechanics to learn how to maintain and repair production equipment properly.
- Perform troubleshooting diagnostics on assigned areas machines and auto-pack units.
- Minimize downtime and assist in controlling production rates, scrap rates, and product quality.
- Serve as a mentor/teacher to other machine mechanics and provide technical knowledge and guidance.
- Train new machine mechanics while keeping up with assigned duties.
- Develop expertise in multiple machines to become an "area expert."
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications for Apprentice Industrial Mechanic::
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Advanced mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot machines effectively.
- Above-average knowledge of machines and processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to follow the direction of Master Mechanics and Team Leads.
Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to lift +/- 75 lbs
- Flexibility to work off shifts and/or overtime when assigned, sometimes on short notice.
- Adherence to Lockout/Tagout practices and safety policies.
- Proficiency in reading and writing.
- Willingness to obtain a material handling (forklift) certification as required.
- Must provide own set of standard hand tools.
- Comfortable working with various machines, hand tools, and equipment.
- Ability to work in an environment with possible exposure to accidents, noise, dirt, and fumes within OSHA allowances.
