The Machinist will be responsible for machining and machining related material handling activities for a key client in Hebron, KY. Machining will be accomplished using equipment including but not limited to; bandsaws, lathes (manual and CNC), drill presses, and 3 axis CNC mills. Material handling is done with manual lifting, forklifts, and overhead cranes. The Machinist will be required to read part drawings and program the CNC machines using Conversational Programming to produce desired parts.
Job Requirements for Machinist:
- Read and understand engineering drawings.
- Identify and machine several material types including carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, brass, bronze, and plastics.
- Safely operate machining equipment including bandsaws, lathes, and mills.
- Load and secure materials into the different machine equipment.
- Program through Conversational Programming the CNC machines.
- Check completed parts against engineering drawings using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and tape measures.
- Work with engineers to identify and correct deficiencies in designs.
- Debur finished parts to allow for safe handling.
- Sandblast parts in a sandblast cabinet as needed.
- Lift parts and materials up to 50lbs.
- Establish ‘Can do’ relationships with team members and sales teams.
Skill and Qualifications for Machinist:
- Minimum of 2 years machining experience.
- Must understand machining and machine tools.
- Be able to read engineering drawings and use conversational programming on CNC machines.
- Use various measurement tools to check parts and verify drawings.
- Attention to detail and precision to assure standards are met.
